Congress demands Amit Shah resign as Home Minister after rally remarks
The Congress party questioned the Union Home Minister's ability to manage internal security following his comments on an INDIA bloc rally.
The Congress party on Thursday demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah resign from his post and return to being the BJP president if he cannot manage his responsibilities, according to The Hindu.
The demand follows remarks made by Mr. Shah, who described the INDIA bloc's November 1 rally as a "ghuspetiya bachao" (save infiltrators) event while addressing a rally in Karnal.
Congress media and publicity department head Pawan Khera questioned Mr. Shah's handling of internal security, citing the Pahalgam terror attack, the 2025 Red Fort blast, and the recovery of 300 kg of RDX near the national capital.
Mr. Khera also mentioned the continuing violence in Manipur and criticised the BJP's 'Loktantra bachao, arajakta hatao' campaign, which he referred to as a "mobile circus".
Addressing the rally, Mr. Shah said the BJP is committed to a "detect, delete and deport" process to remove infiltrators from electoral rolls. He also alleged that Rahul Gandhi has turned creating ruckus and boycotting Parliament into a Congress culture.
Mr. Khera further criticised BJP president Nitin Nabin, suggesting the leader should be set free from his current position.
