Sambit Patra accuses Congress of spreading canards regarding SIR process
The BJP National Spokesperson alleged that the Congress party is using false propaganda because its vote bank has been affected by the process.
BJP National Spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra accused the Congress of spreading canards and confusion across the country regarding the SIR process, according to The Hindu.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, Patra alleged that the Congress is upset with the SIR because its vote bank had been cut.
He denied claims made by the Congress regarding the number of genuine voters losing their rights, calling the allegations part of a false propaganda campaign.
Patra stated that about three crore persons did not respond to notices issued by the Election Commission during the SIR process.
He alleged that many of these individuals were infiltrators from Bangladesh who did not want to reveal their identities due to the process.
Patra further alleged that the Congress is opposing the removal of names of deceased persons or those registered in multiple places to facilitate bogus voting.
The BJP spokesperson noted that the country has witnessed 12 SIR exercises so far, including the current one. He said the BJP has launched a counter-campaign to create public awareness and present facts to the people.
