AP BJP seeks fresh assessment of damage from twin cyclones
State BJP President P.V.N. Madhav requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to depute a team to evaluate the cumulative impact of two storms.
Andhra Pradesh BJP State President P.V.N. Madhav has requested the Union Home Ministry to conduct a fresh assessment of the damage caused by two successive cyclones in the state, according to The Hindu.
In a representation submitted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday, Madhav detailed the devastation caused by Severe Cyclonic Storm Arnab between October 26 and 28, and Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu from November 2 to 4.
While Madhav expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Home Affairs for promptly sending a Central team to assess Cyclone Arnab, he noted that Cyclone Murasu aggravated the situation and compounded losses.
The BJP leader urged the Centre to depute a fresh Central Assessment Team to evaluate the damage from Cyclone Murasu and the cumulative impact of both storms.
Madhav sought central support for affected farmers through existing agricultural schemes and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, alongside rehabilitation for the horticulture, fisheries, aquaculture, animal husbandry, and dairy sectors.
He also requested funds to restore infrastructure such as power networks and roads, asking for the Union Home Minister's intervention to coordinate relief between the Central and State governments.
