Nandini ghee, butter and paneer prices increase in Karnataka

The Bangalore Milk Union has revised rates for several dairy products following recent hikes in milk and curd prices.

The Bangalore Urban, Rural & Ramanagara District Co-Operative Milk Producers Societies Union Limited (BAMUL) has increased the prices of Nandini ghee, butter, and paneer in Karnataka, according to reports by The Hindu and Deccan Chronicle.

The revised rates for these products come after the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) recently increased the price of Nandini milk by Rs 8 per litre and curd by Rs 14 per litre.

For ghee, the price of a one-litre sachet has risen from Rs 715 to Rs 850. A one-litre PET jar now costs Rs 870, up from Rs 735, while a one-litre tin has increased to Rs 870 from Rs 750.

The price of a 500 gm pack of unsalted butter has increased from Rs 330 to Rs 390, and salted butter has risen from Rs 310 to Rs 380. Paneer prices have also been revised, with a 1 kg pack now costing Rs 485, up from Rs 480.

P.C. Rao, honorary president of the Bangalore Hotels Association, said the move is a huge financial burden on the hotel industry, noting an additional 25 per cent burden including milk, curd, paneer, ghee, and butter prices.

The new prices were released on November 4 and came into effect across the state from November 5.
