SBSP warns BJP against entry of Bihar allies into Uttar Pradesh
Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party leader Arvind Rajbhar says the party may explore other options if Bihar-based NDA allies expand into the state.
The Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) has warned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the entry of Bihar-based NDA allies into Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, according to a report by Outlook.
SBSP national general secretary Arvind Rajbhar stated that the party would not allow Bihar-based parties to enter Uttar Pradesh and would consider other options if they do. Rajbhar noted that the SBSP was not allowed to be part of the NDA in Bihar.
The warning follows plans by the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP (RV)) and the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) to build an electoral presence in Uttar Pradesh. LJP (RV) president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan is scheduled to launch a campaign from Varanasi on Thursday, while JD(U) leader Nishant Kumar is expected to visit the state soon.
LJP (RV) is reportedly targeting Purvanchal and central Uttar Pradesh, areas with significant Pasi and Paswan community populations. The entry of Paswan's party could potentially help the BJP counter the Samajwadi Party's PDA outreach and draw non-Jatav Dalit votes.
The BJP has not commented on the remarks made by the SBSP, which has been an NDA ally since 2023. The party now faces the challenge of managing the ambitions of its allies without affecting the broader alliance.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin is currently in Gorakhpur for a two-day visit and is expected to meet legislators from allies Apna Dal (Soneylal) and the NISHAD Party.
