Amit Shah challenges Rahul Gandhi to debate in Parliament in Karnal rally

The Union Home Minister told the Leader of Opposition to bring his arguments to the House instead of holding political debates on the streets.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to engage in a debate inside Parliament. Speaking at a rally in Karnal, Haryana, Shah told the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha to bring his arguments and allegations to the House rather than taking political discussions to the streets.

According to reports from Times of India and ANI, Shah suggested that if Gandhi's concerns possess logic and substance, he should discuss them in Parliament. Shah claimed that Gandhi would be unable to manage the government's responses and would avoid the discussion.

The Home Minister also stated that the government is prepared to hold a special session of Parliament to discuss the SIR exercise, provided the Congress leadership submits a formal request through constitutional procedures. He accused the Congress of using boycotts as a political strategy and disrupting parliamentary proceedings.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to Gandhi's previous challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by stating that Parliament is the correct venue for such debates. She noted that as Leader of Opposition, Gandhi has an obligation to listen to answers rather than walking out when the government responds to allegations.

Shah was addressing the conclusion of the BJP's 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' campaign, which ran from October 22 to November 5. The second phase of the campaign is scheduled to take place from November 11 to November 30.
