Amit Shah accuses Rahul Gandhi of spreading anarchy in Karnal rally
The Union Home Minister warned that the BJP would respond to Congress protest tactics in Parliament and on the streets.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of causing chaos and preventing Parliament from functioning during a rally in Karnal, Haryana, on Thursday. Speaking at the conclusion of the BJP's 'Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao' campaign, Shah claimed that the Congress party has made disruptions and boycotts a standard part of its political culture, according to the Times of India.
Shah stated that Gandhi does not participate in discussions on important issues and instead chooses to gather crowds on the streets. He warned that the BJP would provide a 'fitting reply' to the opposition wherever they choose to mobilise, including in state assemblies, villages, and on the roads.
The rally marked the end of the first phase of the campaign, which took place at BJP headquarters from October 22 to November 5. Shah claimed the campaign showed significant public support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also attended the event and alleged that foreign-funded organisations are trying to create lawlessness in the country by using certain elements as proxies. Other attendees included Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and BJP leader Smriti Irani.
The second phase of the BJP campaign is scheduled to run from November 11 to November 30. This phase will focus on constitutional processes and raising awareness regarding voter list accuracy and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
