Jaishankar attends Quad Foreign Ministers' meeting in Atlanta

India, US, Australia and Japan discussed shared priorities for the Indo-Pacific during the meeting in the United States.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Atlanta, US, on Saturday, according to Kalinga TV. The meeting included discussions between India, US, Australia and Japan regarding shared priorities for the Indo-Pacific.

Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Japan Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, and Australia Foreign Minister Penny Wong. Rubio stated on X that the Quad nations are building open supply chains, increasing maritime cooperation, and securing critical minerals.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor described the meeting as a successful G20 Ministerial Summit in Atlanta. Gor noted that this was the third ministerial-level meeting in six months, following previous meetings in Delhi and Manila.

Gor said the Quad is important to the United States and expressed hope that these engagements lead to a leaders’ summit. He added that the nations have regular touchpoints almost weekly.

Maritime security and critical minerals have been on the Quad agenda for 2026. In May, during a meeting in New Delhi, the partners announced the Quad Critical Minerals Initiative Framework and the Quad Initiative on Indo-Pacific Energy Security.
