Maya Jama donates £83,500 to charity after Celebrity Traitors loss
The television presenter donated the amount she would have won to Action for Children following her exit from the BBC reality show.
Television presenter Maya Jama has donated £83,500 of her own money to the charity Action for Children, according to the Times of India. The sum matches the prize money she would have received had she won the BBC reality series Celebrity Traitors.
Jama, a 32-year-old Love Island host, reached the final of the second series but was voted out by other contestants at the concluding stage. She announced the donation on X, stating she gave the money to her chosen charity.
Action for Children confirmed receiving the funds, which the organisation uses to support children and young people dealing with poverty, abuse, housing issues, and foster care. Katherine Woods, the charity's director of fundraising, said the organisation was thrilled by the donation.
During the show, Jama played a Traitor in a Scottish castle. She was voted out at the final roundtable by fellow Traitor King Kenny, leaving Sebastian Croft and Romesh Ranganathan to win the £83,000 prize pot.
Croft and Ranganathan shared the winnings between their respective charities, Choose Love and the Refugee Council. The final episode of the series recorded an average overnight audience of 11.2 million viewers.
