Vivek Oberoi pays tribute to filmmaker Sanjay Gupta

The actor expressed heartbreak over the sudden death of the Kaante director.

Actor Vivek Oberoi has expressed grief over the sudden passing of filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, according to reports from Telangana Today and ANI. Oberoi stated that the loss felt personal because the two had worked together on the 2007 film Shootout at Lokhandwala.

Sharing his reaction on social media, Oberoi said he was shocked and heartbroken by the untimely death. He described the news as difficult to process and noted that he would cherish the time they spent working together.

Gupta passed away on October 30 after suffering a head injury at his Mumbai residence. He reportedly collapsed in his kitchen.

The filmmaker was known for directing action and crime thriller films, including Kaante, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Kaabil, and Mumbai Saga. His most recent directorial work, The Miranda Brothers, was released in 2024.

Several industry figures, including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, and Hrithik Roshan, paid their respects. Sanjay Dutt, who described Gupta as a close friend, said he intends to complete the project Kaante 2 as a tribute to the director.
