Iran warns new war with US could last longer than previous conflict

Tehran issued the warning after President Donald Trump suggested the United States still has targets to strike in Iran.

Iran warned on Sunday that a renewed conflict with the United States might exceed the duration of the previous war. According to The Hindu, army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia stated that the American president would not be able to control the timing or the end of such a war.

The warning follows comments from President Donald Trump, who told reporters at his Florida residence that the US still needs to address one or two sites. Trump mentioned Pickaxe Mountain, a suspected underground nuclear complex, claiming the US could strike it very quickly.

Revolutionary Guards spokesman Hossein Mohebbi also warned that a conflict with America would have no geographical limits. This echoed a message from Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, regarding a vast theatre for inflicting damage on enemies.

Diplomatic efforts are ongoing after Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei disclosed on Saturday that he received a letter from US Vice President J. D. Vance seeking to revive talks.

Rezaei noted a positive change in tone but said he had not yet responded.

Tehran has previously stated that negotiations and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz depend on meeting specific conditions. These include lifting sanctions, unfreezing assets abroad, and ending the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

In Manama, Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic adviser to the Emirati president, said the United Arab Emirates is hoping for a breakthrough but is preparing for the worst.
