Iran army says new war with US could last longer than previous conflict
Iranian military officials warned that the US president would not be able to control the duration or conditions of a future conflict.
Iran warned on Sunday that any new war with the United States could be longer than the previous conflict, according to The New Indian Express.
Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia told Iranian state television that a potential future war might exceed the length of past fighting. He added that the American president would not be able to decide when or how such a conflict ends.
The remarks follow a war that began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which killed the supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran responded with missiles and drones, while groups it supports joined the fighting in Yemen and Lebanon.
Defense Minister Mehrdad Akhlaghi also warned on Sunday of a decisive and impactful response to any attack on the country. He stated that those posing threats cannot control the scope or timing of Iran's defensive actions.
Hossein Mohebbi, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said in a statement that a conflict with America would have no geographical limits. He claimed a vast theatre has been defined for damaging the enemy.
US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States has neutralised much of Iran's military. He stated that while nuclear sites have been knocked out, one or two remaining targets could be addressed in 10 minutes.
