Ukraine air raid alert app apparently hacked on Sunday
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that the application was subjected to hostile interference after false radiation and chemical threats were sent to users.
Ukraine's public air raid alert app was apparently hacked on Sunday, briefly sending false radiation and chemical threat alerts to users, according to BBC News.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated on Telegram that the Air Alarm application had probably been subjected to hostile interference and confirmed there was no radiation threat.
The false messages, which began at approximately 22:47, included claims of a radiation threat in Kyiv and a nuclear alert across Ukraine.
Other alerts sent to users included a chemical threat in Kyiv and a claim that street fighting was taking place in the capital.
The Ukrainian Central Intelligence Agency reported a failure in the app and noted that a radiation hazard signal was played on loudspeaker devices in the Lviv region.
Vinnytsia oblast Governor Natalya Zabolotna said there had been a cyberattack on the app and warned people not to click on links in the messages.
