Revanth Reddy seeks permanent sports infrastructure for Khelo India Youth Games 2026

The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure high-quality facilities and include the traditional sport of Karrasamu in the upcoming national event.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to prepare high-quality, permanent sports facilities for the eighth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2026. According to The Hindu, the Chief Minister made these directions during a review meeting in Hyderabad on Monday.

The state government is prioritising the national sporting event, which will take place right after the Invest Telangana Global Summit. Mr. Reddy said the games should provide international-standard infrastructure and coaching for young athletes.

The competition is expected to involve more than 7,000 young athletes and approximately 2,000 coaches and officials. Events will be held across 20 venues in six cities in Telangana, including Hyderabad, covering 27 sports disciplines and one demonstration event.

Mr. Reddy also directed officials to include the traditional Telangana sport, Karrasamu, under the host State category. He noted that some infrastructure built during the previous BRS government had deteriorated due to negligence.

During the same meeting, the Chief Minister told municipal authorities to monitor daily waste collection strictly to ensure no garbage is visible in the city. He also called for the expansion of recycled water supplies and instructed officials to prevent the use of potable water for gardening and construction.
