DMK seeks graft charges against Tamil Nadu School Education Minister
The DMK legal wing has alleged that Minister A Rajmohan and A Loyola Mani concealed evidence regarding a Rs 5 crore bribe offer.
The DMK legal wing has sought action under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against Tamil Nadu School Education Minister A Rajmohan and Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services chairman A Loyola Mani, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
I Paranthamen, joint secretary of the DMK legal wing and former MLA, filed a complaint with the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) alleging the concealment of evidence.
Paranthamen stated that an unnamed person offered a Rs 5 crore bribe to the Minister and Loyola Mani in exchange for an appointment as the Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Mandram president.
The complaint noted that Rajmohan made a statement on November 1 during Tamil Nadu Day celebrations at the Government Museum auditorium, where he said he refused the offer and that Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay would not appoint an unfit person even for Rs 500 crore.
Paranthamen alleged that Loyola Mani, a public servant, remained in contact with the person who offered the bribe and that the Minister did not report the offer to law enforcement despite the government appointing Pushpavanam Kuppusamy to the post on October 5.
The DMK legal wing urged the DVAC to investigate immediately to prevent the loss or destruction of electronic evidence, such as call detail records.
