Revanth Reddy directs officials to improve Hyderabad cleanliness and traffic flow
The Telangana Chief Minister instructed authorities to implement better waste management and expand the use of treated wastewater for non-potable needs.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to implement steps to make Hyderabad a cleaner city with better traffic management, according to reports by The Pioneer, ANI and Deccan Chronicle. During a review meeting with municipal officials at his Jubilee Hills residence on Monday, the Chief Minister discussed civic and infrastructure issues.
Regarding waste management, Revanth Reddy told authorities to ensure no garbage is visible in the city and called for constant monitoring of collection. Officials reported that daily door-to-door collection is being enforced and action is being taken against negligent staff. The Chief Minister also requested special plans for removing construction debris and suggested coordinating with the Industries wing for waste collection in industrial zones.
To conserve drinking water, the Chief Minister ordered that treated water from Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) be used for construction, gardening, and park maintenance instead of drinking water. He advised expanding the current 'Green Tanker' service, which uses 28 tankers from 19 STPs, to include areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC).
Addressing traffic congestion, Revanth Reddy directed officials to develop plans for underpasses and elevated corridors to create a signal-free system. He emphasised that traffic regulation must ensure vehicles do not face long delays at signals. The meeting was attended by MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister's Secretary Manik Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Municipal Commissioner G.
Srujana.
