Jammu and Kashmir CM orders faster execution of development projects

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has instructed ministers to accelerate work and prepare for the upcoming winter season.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday instructed his ministers to speed up current development projects, improve the handling of public complaints, and prepare for winter. According to ThePrint, the Chief Minister issued these directions during an introductory meeting with ministers and senior civil administration officers at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu.

The meeting took place following the resumption of the bi-annual Darbar Move. Abdullah told ministers that the next six months are vital for increasing the pace of work and making the best use of funds allocated to various departments.

The Chief Minister asked newly appointed ministers to conduct detailed reviews of their departments. He requested they identify completed, ongoing, and uninitiated projects, while also noting reasons for any delays. He specifically highlighted the need to monitor projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI).

Regarding winter readiness, Abdullah stressed the importance of maintaining essential services through inter-departmental coordination. He also addressed concerns about ration dumping in certain areas, telling the relevant department to ensure essential commodities are available. He further directed the administration to improve living and working conditions for employees who moved to Jammu for the Darbar Move.

Abdullah also called for proactive budgetary planning. He directed departments to consult with the finance and planning departments early to prepare proposals for the next financial year. This is intended to ensure that priorities are identified and realistic proposals are made before the final budget is formulated.
