NCP leaders express discontent during core committee meeting

Senior members of the Nationalist Congress Party raised concerns over the party's internal functioning following talks with Amit Shah.

Senior leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) expressed dissatisfaction with the party's internal operations during a core committee meeting on Monday, November 2, 2026, according to The Hindu. The meeting was called by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar at her residence in Mumbai.

The discontent follows a Sunday night meeting in New Delhi where six senior NCP leaders met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The delegation included Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dhananjay Munde, Hasan Mushrif, and Dilip Walse Patil. The leaders reportedly informed Shah of their unhappiness with the leadership of national president Sunetra Pawar and her son, Parth Pawar.

An NCP source told The Hindu that the meeting with Shah focused on the party being run in an authoritarian manner, which is affecting its strength. A senior leader claimed that if the current style of functioning does not change, senior members may consider charting their own path due to being excluded from key decisions.

The party's spokesperson, Umesh Patil, denied reports of a leadership crisis, stating that Sunetra Pawar and Parth Pawar had previously met Amit Shah to discuss party affairs. The NCP released a statement calling reports of an internal rift an attempt by unseen forces to create an artificial narrative following recent MLC poll setbacks.

NCP Maharashtra State president Sunil Tatkare dismissed speculation of friction, stating the committee discussed organisational matters and how to remain united. A meeting of all elected party legislators is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
