JDU chief raises concerns after two independent MLCs join BJP

Bihar JDU chief Umesh Kushwaha says the recent movement of independent MLCs into the BJP is concerning for the NDA.

Bihar JDU chief Umesh Kushwaha expressed concerns on Monday after two independent MLCs, Bansidhar Brijwasi and Rahul Raj, joined the BJP on Saturday. According to The Economic Times, both the Tirhut graduates’ seat and the Saran teachers’ seat were contested by JDU in alliance.

Kushwaha said in Patna that while it is an internal matter for the BJP who joins or is expelled, the recent return of leaders within 15 days of disciplinary action is concerning for the NDA. He stated that the BJP leadership should deliberate and reflect.

The BJP has claimed that the MLCs have only extended their support and never joined the party. Before the polls, the BJP had expelled Rahul Raj for contesting against the NDA candidate Anand Pushkar.

JDU nominee Abhishek Jha alleged in a social media post that NDA parties did not help JDU candidates. A joint press meet involving Jha and Pushkar, scheduled for Monday, was called off after JDU working president Sanjay Jha and Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary spoke to them.

The JDU has called a meeting of party leaders on November 5 to discuss the election results.
