CJI Surya Kant inaugurates ₹35 crore data centre at Jharkhand High Court

The new facility and several digital initiatives aim to strengthen the judicial infrastructure and improve access for litigants and lawyers.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Surya Kant inaugurated a state-of-the-art data centre at the Jharkhand High Court on November 2. The facility was constructed at an estimated cost of ₹35 crore and was launched alongside various digital initiatives.

According to reports from ANI and The News Mill, the data centre provides essential computing power, storage, cybersecurity, and power backup. This infrastructure is intended to support e-courts, digital record systems, and judicial administration.

Justice Surya Kant described the inauguration as a major step in modernising the judiciary. He stated that the goal is to create a legal system that is more efficient and better able to meet the requirements of the public.

The Chief Justice noted that the true value of these technological upgrades lies in the practical benefits they provide to lawyers, judges, and litigants. He said the infrastructure must keep pace with the increasing reliance on electronic communications and digital records.

The digital launch also included a new official website for the Jharkhand High Court. Other new tools include an iOS mobile application for the High Court and district courts, an online certified copy module, and a personalised cause list feature for advocates.
