Hyderabad to launch El Nino awareness campaign in schools and colleges

Cultural troupes will educate residents on conserving water and electricity across various locations in the Hyderabad district.

Hyderabad District Collector Priyanka Ala announced on Monday that an awareness campaign regarding the El Nino weather phenomenon will be conducted across the district. According to The Hindu, the initiative will target schools, colleges, hostels, government offices, residential neighbourhoods and major public junctions.

Members of the Telangana Samskruthika Sarathi (TSS) cultural troupes will carry out the programmes in all mandals of the district. These troupes will use cultural performances to teach people about the necessity of saving water and electricity.

Speaking after an awareness session for district officials, Ala requested residents to be careful with their use of water and power due to El Nino. She stated that saving water is a social responsibility.

The Collector also appealed to the public to prevent wastage and to use essential resources only when necessary.
