TGCHE intervenes as JNTU Hyderabad converts EAPCET office into wellness facility

The Telangana Council of Higher Education requested the university to find alternative space to protect the confidentiality of examination and admission data.

The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) has intervened after Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad decided to convert the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) office into a wellness facility for women employees.

According to Telangana Today, JNTU Hyderabad Registrar Dr. A Jaya Laxmi allotted the office space following a request from women employees. The facility is intended to provide a private space for women to rest and attend to personal needs during working hours.

The decision has raised concerns regarding the security of sensitive examination and admissions-related information. The EAPCET office handles confidential data, and the move comes while BSc Nursing counselling has concluded and BPharmacy admissions remain unfinalised.

TGCHE Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy told Telangana Today that he asked university officials to identify an alternative location. He stated that because the EAPCET process will shortly commence, the office must remain secure due to the confidential information it holds.
