Over 93,681 candidates participate in UP Special TET written exam

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission conducted the daylong examination across six divisional headquarters in the state on Tuesday.

A total of 93,681 candidates, representing 87.92 per cent of those registered, participated in the Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) written examination on Tuesday, according to Hindustan Times.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) conducted the exam for teachers in the basic education department at centres across Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Agra.

The examination was held in two shifts, from 9:30 am to 12 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. In the first shift, 50,666 candidates participated, while 43,015 candidates attended the second shift.

UPESSC chairman Prashant Kumar stated that female candidates accounted for 89.25 per cent participation and male candidates accounted for 89.28 per cent.

During the examination, a fake candidate was caught at Bappa Shri Narayan Vocational Inter College in Lucknow using AI-based software. The individual was reportedly writing the exam in place of another candidate and was handed over to local police.

The commission used AI cameras for intensive monitoring of the exam centres, and the examination went off smoothly.
