TGCHE directs universities to ensure proper procedure for staff terminations

The Telangana Council of Higher Education has responded to complaints regarding the abrupt dismissal of teaching and non-teaching staff in private affiliated colleges.

The Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) on Tuesday requested State universities to ensure that private affiliated colleges follow established rules before dismissing teaching and non-teaching staff, according to Telangana Today.

The TGCHE stated it has received complaints via letters and emails from staff members alleging that their services were ended abruptly without notice or in violation of applicable regulations.

The council noted that failing to follow prescribed procedures could negatively impact the academic environment and the service conditions and natural justice of the staff involved.

TGCHE Chairman Prof. V Balakista Reddy said universities were asked to look into the matter immediately and take necessary action.

Reddy said instructions should be given to affiliated colleges to strictly adhere to the rules, regulations and guidelines prescribed by the UGC, AICTE and other relevant statutory and regulatory authorities.
