NSEIX extends GIFT Nifty trading hours to 23.5 hours a day
The exchange launched near round-the-clock operations on November 2 to provide international investors better access across global time zones.
The NSE International Exchange (NSEIX) has extended its market operations to 23 hours and 30 minutes a day, according to Moneycontrol and Business Today. The new schedule, which took effect on November 2, 2026, allows the exchange to operate from 3:15 am IST until 2:45 am IST the following day.
Under the revised timings for the NSE IFSC Nifty 50 Index Futures, known as GIFT Nifty, the morning session now starts at 5:15 am IST instead of 6:30 am. The morning pre-open session begins at 5 am IST, while the second session remains unchanged, running from 4:05 pm until 2:45 am IST the next day.
The extension aims to help participants manage market exposure and respond to international developments across Asian, European, and American trading hours. The exchange noted that its technology allows for system updates to be finished in under 15 minutes at the end of the day and within three minutes between sessions.
V. Balasubramaniam, MD and CEO of NSEIX, said the 23.5-hour trading window is a milestone in creating a globally accessible marketplace from GIFT City. He added that the new framework is supported by technology designed for an extended market environment.
NSEIX was established at GIFT City on June 5, 2017, and is recognised by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). The exchange offers various products, including single-stock derivatives, index derivatives, and currency derivatives.
