There may be crime but no aparadh in Bihar, says CM Choudhary
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary's comments regarding the distinction between crime and offence have sparked controversy and criticism from Tejashwi Yadav.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that while crime may exist in the state, there is no 'aparadh' (offence). The remarks were made during an event involving an agreement between the Bihar government and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways regarding river water management, according to the Deccan Herald.
Choudhary told the gathering that the concept of crime has been eliminated and that there are no criminals in the state. He also noted that managing water resources is the second biggest challenge for Bihar and said the state will rise again if it manages its water.
The Chief Minister's comments have caused controversy. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was also present on the stage during the event.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav criticised the Chief Minister on X after sharing a clip of the speech. Yadav questioned whether the IAS and IPS officers on stage felt honoured or insulted by the statement.
Yadav further asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken a contract to destroy Bihar through the Chief Minister. He referred to Choudhary as a specimen accused of seven murders who was selected as Chief Minister by Modi.
