Haryana Police STF seizes 25,000 cartridges and arrests five in Jhajjar

The operation in Jhajjar followed inputs from the Bihar STF regarding an alleged inter-state ammunition racket.

The Haryana Police Special Task Force (STF) seized 25,000 live cartridges and arrested five individuals in Jhajjar on Tuesday morning, according to Rediff. The recovery was made from two vehicles parked outside Triveni Dhaba at Rohad following inputs from the Bihar STF.

The STF team searched a Tata Harrier and a Hyundai Aura. They recovered 24,400 live cartridges of KF 7.65 and BMM KF bore from the Tata Harrier and 600 cartridges bearing the BMM KF marking from the Hyundai Aura. Eight mobile phones were also seized.

The five arrested individuals have been identified as Afifuddin alias Munna Khan (49), Aasim Rais (33), Sablou Khan (32), Arbaz Ali (27) and Zeenat (33), all residents of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. Police stated the accused failed to produce valid licences or documents for the ammunition.

Preliminary investigations suggest Badaun gun house owner Afifuddin alias Munna Khan is a key link. It is alleged he procured the cartridges from a gun house owner in Sirsa. The operation followed a similar seizure by the Bihar Police STF in Bhojpur district, where an associate of Munna Khan was arrested with 20,000 cartridges.

An FIR has been registered at Assaudha police station in Jhajjar district under the Arms Act. The Haryana STF, in coordination with the Bihar STF and Uttar Pradesh Police, is probing the source, supply chain and distribution network across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
