Kerala Police launch HM ACTS and HOMeS digital platforms

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala introduced the new systems to improve grievance redressal and enable real-time monitoring of crime statistics in the state.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala launched two digital initiatives, HM ACTS and HOMeS (Home Department Operations Monitoring and e-Services), in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. According to The Hindu, these platforms aim to strengthen police administration and improve the redressal of grievances.

The HM ACTS system is designed to register, track, and ensure the timely disposal of complaints submitted to the Home Minister and his office. Petitions will be digitally registered and forwarded to relevant police offices using existing Kerala Police software.

The Home Minister's office can issue directions to police offices based on the nature of a petition and monitor the progress of each case. Applicants may receive SMS notifications regarding the status and disposal of their petitions.

Chennithala stated that the initiative intends to address delays that frustrate complainants who fail to get timely responses from local police stations. He noted that the previous system of using physical files and official correspondence often consumed considerable time.

The HOMeS platform serves as a real-time crime-monitoring and administrative dashboard for the Home Minister and senior officials. It will draw data from the Kerala Police’s iCoPS crime management software to provide statistics on crimes across the state.

The dashboard will offer data at the state, district, and police station levels, including FIR counts and categories such as crimes against women, children, and senior citizens. It will also generate alerts for urgent incidents like missing children cases, though it will not display confidential or personal information.
