Tuppudu Lakshmi returned to India after Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao intervened to resolve her situation.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao facilitated the return of Tuppudu Lakshmi from Muscat to Hyderabad after she was allegedly cheated by a recruitment agent. Lakshmi, a resident of Gokafasalwad village in the Kodangal constituency, met Rama Rao on Tuesday at Telangana Bhavan to express her gratitude.
According to reports from The Hindu and Telangana Today, Lakshmi travelled to Muscat on February 27 to find work. She was allegedly assigned tasks different from those promised by the agent. Her employer reportedly confiscated her passport and refused to let her return to India.
The agent who arranged her travel allegedly stopped answering calls and demanded Rs 2 lakh to facilitate her return. After her SIM card and Wi-Fi were disconnected, Lakshmi used a neighbour's internet to contact her son, Raju, to explain her situation.
Raju approached Rama Rao on September 29 after seeking help from local Congress leaders without success. Rama Rao promised to secure her passport and bring her home within a month. He wrote to the relevant officials to assist her return.
After arriving in Hyderabad on Monday, Lakshmi reunited with her family. She told Rama Rao that he had fulfilled the promise made to her son and expressed that her family would remain grateful for his support during their time of need.
