Telangana CM directs officials to continue Tummidihatti barrage talks with Maharashtra

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed irrigation authorities to exchange project documents and land submergence details with the Maharashtra government.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday, November 3, ordered irrigation officials to proceed with discussions with the Maharashtra government regarding the proposed Tummidihatti barrage. The directive was issued during a review meeting at his Jubilee Hills residence, which was attended by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior officials, according to reports by Urban Acres and Siasat.

Reddy told officials to ensure they have thorough data ready regarding areas that might be submerged by the project. He emphasised that all necessary paperwork, including current agreements, must be shared with Maharashtra. The Chief Minister also stated that Telangana would not oppose Maharashtra conducting its own survey of potential submergence zones.

Regarding financial matters, the Chief Minister said Telangana is prepared to offer sufficient compensation for land in Maharashtra affected by the project. He added that the state is ready to put funds into a joint account managed by both state governments. Officials were instructed to provide any information requested by Maharashtra in a timely manner.

The meeting included Irrigation Advisor Adityanath Das, Secretary to the Irrigation Department Sridhar, Engineer-in-Chief Ramesh, and other senior officials. The next step involves irrigation officials providing the requested data and maintaining the ongoing dialogue with Maharashtra officials.
