Nagaland: 90-year-old man builds flower garden around wife's grave

Mosenyii Yakhro has tended to the hillside memorial in Kigwema village for a decade since his wife's death.

Mosenyii Yakhro, a 90-year-old man from Nagaland, has spent the last decade tending to a flower garden built around his wife's grave. The hillside memorial, located in Kigwema village, is now known as Mosen Viewpoint, according to a Times of India report.

The garden was created around the burial spot of Yakhro's wife, Vivolheri, who was 80 when she passed away. Vivolheri had chosen the specific location in the village for her burial before she died.

The site now attracts tourists and local village children who visit to see the flowers and enjoy the view of the hills and terraced rice fields. Cosmos flowers are among the plants growing at the viewpoint.

Yakhro continues to look after the plants every morning. He told the Associated Press (AP) that he feels happy and enjoys knowing the happiness of the people who visit the site.

The garden also serves as a gathering place for Yakhro's family, who meet there every year on January 15 to celebrate his birthday. Yakhro stated that his own burial place will also be at the site.
