Ranbir Kapoor compares Elon Musk's flying car to Pushpak Viman
The actor suggested India had flying car technology 5,000 years ago during a movie promotion.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor has compared Elon Musk's flying car technology to the Pushpak Viman from the Ramayana, stating that India "did it 5,000 years ago". Kapoor, who plays the role of Ram in the upcoming film adaptation of Valmiki's Ramayana, made these remarks during a chat show with presenter Suma, according to reports by Deccan Herald and The Tribune.
The interview included co-stars Yash, Ravie Dubey, and Rakul Preet Singh, along with director Nitesh Tiwari. Kapoor's comments followed the unveiling of the next-generation Tesla Roadster by Elon Musk on October 15, which features rocket-inspired air thrusters developed with SpaceX.
Director Nitesh Tiwari said the production team created 40 to 50 designs before finalising a lotus-shaped version of the Pushpak Viman for the film. Tiwari explained that they wanted the design to incorporate a sense of science, as they believe there was science behind the events of that time.
The film, which also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, is scheduled for release on November 5. It is envisioned as a two-part cinematic adaptation produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.
The first part will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam across premium formats, including IMAX. The music for the project is composed by A R Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
