Olivia Newton-John sold Australian estate for $4.6 million in 2019
The singer sold the 187-acre Dalwood property after nearly four decades of ownership to fund wellness and cancer research work.
The singer and Grease star Olivia Newton-John sold her 187-acre Australian country estate in July 2019 for $4.6 million, according to the Times of India. The property was located at Dalwood on the north coast of New South Wales.
Newton-John originally purchased the land in 1981 for $622,000. Over the next 38 years, she expanded the estate by acquiring additional parcels of land and transformed the landscape by planting approximately 5,000 trees.
The estate featured a French-inspired residence that was rebuilt in 2002, alongside guest accommodation. The grounds included various water features such as a creek, a pond, two dams, and a waterfall, as well as a tennis court.
The sale occurred as Newton-John shifted her focus toward wellness and cancer advocacy. Reports linked the sale of her real estate portfolio to her desire to invest in her foundation and her work with the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne.
The property was eventually purchased by Carol Klinkert, whose husband Stephen Klinkert worked in the insurance industry. The final sale price was lower than the initial asking price of more than $5 million.
Newton-John, who died in August 2022 at age 73, also co-founded the Gaia Retreat & Spa in the Byron Bay hinterland in 2005.
