Ranbir Kapoor responds to Ramayana trolling and mixed reviews

The actor says he follows the philosophy of not being bothered by what people say online.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has addressed the online trolling and memes surrounding the film Ramayana ahead of its worldwide cinema release on Thursday, November 5. Speaking at an IIMUN event, Kapoor, who plays the role of Lord Rama, said he follows the philosophy of the song 'Kuchh to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna'.

Kapoor stated that one should not let online reactions affect them and that what matters most is the support of people who care about one's work, intention, and kindness. Director Nitesh Tiwari also responded to the criticism, saying that if a conscience is clear and the effort was hundred per cent, nothing else is needed.

According to reports from The Times of India, co-producer Namit Malhotra said he has started laughing at the memes because they are meant for humour. Malhotra noted that people often seek someone in the news to make fun of and that he is choosing to accept both the criticism and the appreciation the film has received.

Following the world premiere at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, California, international reviews have been mixed. IndieWire praised the film's visual elements and the music by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, while IGN questioned the depth of the central characters and the fantasy action sequences.

Screen Rant also noted that while Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita, excel in action moments, the characters can feel more like mythological embodiments than humans. The review highlighted Yash's performance as the antagonist Ravana as a standout.

The film features an ensemble cast including Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Anupam Kher as Jatayu.
