Airlines must refund umrah pilgrims following flight cancellations, says organisers collective
Pilgrims have faced uncertainty regarding return journeys and refunds after airlines cancelled flights to Saudi Arabia due to geopolitical unrest.
An umrah organisers collective stated on Tuesday that several pilgrims have not yet received refunds after airlines cancelled flights to Saudi Arabia due to geopolitical unrest in South Asia.
According to The Hindu, many pilgrims have been unable to perform the umrah pilgrimage because of cancellations that began on October 12.
The collective noted that return journeys have also been uncertain in many cases and urged airlines to issue refunds at the earliest.
The organisers said that despite receiving assurances, several pilgrims are still waiting for their money.
The collective intends to submit representations to Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin and Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi to appeal to the airlines.
