Security tightened along LoC and International Border ahead of Diwali

Security forces have increased surveillance and conducted joint mock drills across Jammu and Kashmir to prevent disruptions during the festive season.

Security forces have strengthened surveillance and conducted joint mock exercises along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Diwali, according to the Kashmir Observer.

Security grids have been reinforced along sensitive stretches in the Poonch and Rajouri districts of the Jammu region. Additional vigilance is being maintained along traditional infiltration routes in Kathua district, where a joint mock exercise was recently conducted to assess preparedness.

In north Kashmir, heightened vigilance is being maintained in the Gurez, Uri, Karnah, and Tangdhar sectors, while Sunderbani remains a sensitive area in the Jammu region. Along the IB, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have intensified round-the-clock patrolling using drones and electronic monitoring systems.

In Bandipora district, the Bandipora Police, the Army's 13 Rashtriya Rifles, and the 45 Battalion CRPF conducted a joint Cordon, Intervention and Rescue (CIRS) drill at PM High School, GundJahangir in Hajin. The exercise simulated a situation where two civilians were held hostage by terrorists.

Other exercises in Bandipora included an anti-fidayeen mock drill at Aragam and another at the District Police Lines involving SOG Bandipora, 3rd Battalion CRPF, 14 RR, and 27 Assam Rifles. Officials said these drills aimed to improve response time and test operational preparedness.

With Diwali falling on November 8, security agencies have maintained a heightened alert across vulnerable areas to ensure peaceful celebrations.
