Shah Rukh Khan's King earns ₹665 crore in pre-release deals
The upcoming action thriller has secured major distribution, digital, music, and satellite rights ahead of its December 2026 release.
Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film King has reportedly secured ₹665 crore through pre-release deals, according to reports from Sacnilk, Pinkvilla, and Hindustan Times. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026.
Theatrical distribution rights account for ₹425 crore of the total. Pen Marudhar has reportedly acquired the Indian distribution rights for ₹250 crore, while Phars Films has secured overseas rights for a minimum guarantee of ₹175 crore.
Non-theatrical deals include streaming rights bought by Netflix for ₹150 crore, music rights for ₹65 crore, and satellite rights for ₹25 crore. The Netflix agreement reportedly includes a theatrical performance rider, meaning the final value may change based on box-office performance.
The production, involving Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, reportedly has a budget of nearly ₹400 crore. Including a notional acting fee for Shah Rukh Khan, the total cost could reach approximately ₹500 crore, with an additional ₹40 crore to ₹50 crore expected for promotion and marketing.
King marks the actor's first film in over three years and his first on-screen collaboration with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The ensemble cast also features Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, and Abhishek Bachchan.
