Telangana CM directs officials to continue Tummidihatti barrage talks with Maharashtra

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed irrigation officials to exchange documents and prepare details regarding land submergence areas.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed irrigation department officials to maintain ongoing discussions with the Maharashtra government regarding the proposed Tummidihatti barrage project, according to reports by The Pioneer and The News Mill.

During a review meeting at his Jubilee Hills residence on Tuesday, Reddy, along with Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, instructed officials to provide Maharashtra with documents concerning finalised agreements and other relevant matters.

The Chief Minister stated that the Telangana government is ready to offer fair payment for any land in Maharashtra that might be underwater because of the project. He added that the state is willing to put the necessary money into a joint account managed by both state governments.

Reddy noted that Telangana has no objection to officials from Maharashtra performing a survey to evaluate potential land submergence. He told officials to supply any information requested by Maharashtra in a timely manner to assist further negotiations.

The meeting included Irrigation Advisor Adityanath Das, Irrigation Department Secretary Sridhar, and Engineer-in-Chief Ramesh, among other senior officials. The immediate focus remains on the exchange of technical and administrative details between the two states.
