Telangana power demand falls by 29 per cent in late October
Average daily electricity consumption also saw a reduction of nearly 26.2 per cent during the same period.
Peak power demand and electricity consumption in Telangana decreased in late October compared to the end of September, according to Deccan Chronicle. Data from the Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Ltd (TGNPDCL) shows that average daily peak demand dropped from 6,355 MW to 4,491 MW, a decline of approximately 29.3 per cent.
Average daily electricity consumption also fell from 92.03 million units to 67.96 million units during the comparison of the two periods. The analysis compared figures from September 27 to October 2 against the period from October 27 to November 1.
On October 27, peak demand was 5,335 MW at 7.38 am with consumption at 76.6426 million units. By October 29, peak demand had declined to 4,022 MW with consumption at 62.769 million units. On November 1, the figures were 4,147 MW for demand and 66.1128 million units for consumption.
In the earlier period, peak demand on September 30 reached 6,736 MW with consumption at 90.0161 million units. On October 2, the demand was 6,286 MW and consumption was 90.9388 million units.
While weather, temperature, industrial activity and agricultural requirements can influence electricity demand, the data does not establish the primary reason for this decline. A detailed assessment of consumption patterns across different sectors would be required to identify the specific causes.
