The Chief Minister provided bank-linked credit to 26,000 members of women's collectives during an event in Perundurai.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay provided Rs 3,000 crore in bank-linked credit to 26,000 members of self-help groups across the state on Tuesday, according to a report by India Today citing the Press Trust of India.

During an event in Perundurai, more than 9,000 members of self-help groups in Erode district received Rs 1,110 crore of the total financial assistance. An official told PTI that the initiative aims to encourage women’s collectives to contribute to the state economy.

Before the distribution, Vijay visited an exhibition featuring products made by women’s collectives from various parts of Tamil Nadu. The display included indigenous handicrafts, processed agricultural products, and traditional dolls.

The exhibition featured Toda tribal embroidery from the Nilgiris district's Paalmalar group, as well as bamboo products, handloom bedspreads, and organic food items like millet snacks and ghee.

Vijay interacted with several groups, including the Anbu group from Kanyakumari and the Angala Parameswari collective from Erode. He also viewed demonstrations of clay pottery by the Veeramangai Velu Nachiyar group and banana fibre decor by the Carmel Annai group.

The Chief Minister purchased a wooden sculpture and a banana-fibre product at the venue. He also visited catering stalls run by the Olichudar and Eswaran groups, where he paid for the tea he drank.
