Activists suggest that previous bans on firecrackers in the national capital were not strictly followed by the public.
Implementing the Supreme Court order to allow only green firecrackers during Deepavali will be difficult, according to activists and past experiences, The Hindu reported.
The Supreme Court lifted a blanket ban on firecrackers and permitted the use of green firecrackers five days after its order.
Activists noted that in previous years, people in the national capital have openly ignored both complete and partial bans on firecrackers.
The challenge lies in ensuring that only the permitted green varieties are used during the festival celebrations.
