Actor Ashish Vidyarthi discusses emotional turmoil after divorce at 55
The actor spoke about facing public judgement and finding companionship with his second wife, Rupali Barua.
Actor Ashish Vidyarthi has opened up about the emotional difficulties he faced following the end of his first marriage. According to The Indian Express, the actor described feeling defeated when his relationship of over two decades ended when he was around 55 years old.
Vidyarthi was previously married to actor and singer Rajoshi Barua, known as Piloo, for 22 years. The couple, who have a son named Arth, filed a mutual divorce petition in October 2022. The actor stated that the marriage ended for a deeply personal reason which he does not wish to discuss publicly.
The actor said that the end of his marriage was made more difficult by unsolicited advice and judgements from others. He noted that some acquaintances suggested he enter a live-in relationship instead of marrying again, while others suggested he should stop working to focus on his son.
Vidyarthi married entrepreneur Rupali Barua on May 25, 2023, in Kolkata. He said that he believes people do not need permission to seek happiness regardless of their age.
Speaking about his current life, the actor said that he and Barua value companionship and have managed to build a relationship while retaining their individuality. He added that Barua, a fashion entrepreneur from Assam, often accompanies him on work trips.
