Streamer Asmongold criticises Dead by Daylight over developer response to controversy
Zack Asmongold called the decision by Behaviour Interactive to revoke rewards a pathetic capitulation following a dispute involving creator TheBurntPeanut.
Streamer Zack Asmongold has criticised the developer Behaviour Interactive for its handling of a dispute involving creator TheBurntPeanut, according to The Times of India. The controversy began during a Halloween livestream on October 30 when TheBurntPeanut was given access to game characters, skins, and content.
The dispute arose after players questioned the decision to provide the content and raised concerns regarding past comments made by the streamer. TheBurntPeanut later denied that his previous streams showed he was transphobic or racist.
Behaviour Interactive addressed the issue on November 1, stating a team member provided the content and currency without necessary approval. The developer also apologised to players, noting that an employee's subsequent comments did not align with the game's values.
In a follow-up on November 2, the studio said the decision to join the chat and provide content was made too quickly without standard team discussion. Behaviour Interactive confirmed it has removed the content from TheBurntPeanut's account and is reviewing its creator rules and approval processes.
Asmongold shared his reaction on X, alleging that the developer gave in to individuals who had reportedly harassed and doxxed an employee. He described the move as a pathetic capitulation that would not earn respect.
The studio stated it is taking internal action regarding the matter but will not share details due to confidentiality. The company's policy allows for the warning or removal of creators who engage in hate speech, bullying, or transphobia.
