ED questions former BUIDCO chief in Bihar tender scam probe

Suspended IAS officer Yogesh Kumar Sagar was questioned in Patna regarding an alleged Austria trip funded by a contractor.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned suspended IAS officer Yogesh Kumar Sagar in Patna on Wednesday regarding alleged irregularities in Bihar government tenders, according to Urban Acres.

Sagar, a 2017-batch officer and former managing director of the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO), was asked about his connection to contractor Rishu Shree.

Officials are investigating if the contractor provided financial benefits to Sagar and eight family members, including an estimated Rs 21.92 lakh trip to Vienna, Salzburg and Wolfgang.

The agency is looking into whether this expenditure, which reportedly covered air tickets and hotels, was linked to the awarding of government contracts or preferential treatment.

The probe also involves another suspended IAS officer, 2014-batch officer Abhilasha Kumari Sharma, who was previously questioned regarding alleged foreign travel costs of Rs 19 lakh.

The ED stated that the allegations are under investigation and no conclusions have been drawn, with further action depending on the findings of the probe.
