AAP accuses BJP of blaming Punjab farmers for Delhi pollution
AAP state media in-charge Baltej Pannu alleged that BJP leaders are using Punjab's farmers as scapegoats for the capital's air quality issues.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday criticised the BJP for accusing Punjab's farmers of causing pollution in Delhi, according to the Hindustan Times.
AAP state media in-charge Baltej Pannu alleged that BJP leaders are making farmers scapegoats instead of tackling the various sources of pollution in the national capital.
Pannu stated that the Centre declined to share the costs of managing paddy stubble despite an offer from the state government.
During a press conference, Pannu questioned how smoke from Punjab could reach Delhi so quickly without passing through Haryana.
He said that BJP leaders are overlooking multiple pollution sources in Delhi and noted that Parliament discussions and reports have shown stubble burning is not the sole cause.
Pannu challenged Delhi BJP minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and other leaders to visit Punjab to see the actual situation on the ground.
