Opposition is running a malicious campaign against me, says Bhagwant Mann

The Punjab Chief Minister challenged opposition leaders to prove any corruption allegations against him during an event in Mohali.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused the opposition on Tuesday of conducting a malicious campaign against him because they lack substantive issues to raise. According to the Hindustan Times, Mann made these remarks in Mohali after distributing appointment letters to 801 newly recruited employees.

Mann claimed that leaders from the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Congress are frustrated by the pace of development and public welfare initiatives. He alleged that these parties previously caused economic and social hardship in Punjab through self-serving politics.

The Chief Minister challenged opposition leaders to prove a single allegation of corruption against him or leave politics. He stated that they are attempting to defame him because they cannot accept that a person without a political dynasty is working for the people.

Mann noted that the new appointments cover the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited and departments including forest, prisons, social security, and home. He said these recruitments bring the total number of government jobs provided since the government took office in 2022 to 71,777.

The Chief Minister stated that all appointments were made based on merit rather than money or political connections. He announced that appointment letters for another 600 individuals will be issued next week.
