Flooding disrupts road connectivity in several Andhra Pradesh districts

Heavy rains have caused overflowing streams, damaged infrastructure, and led to one death in Guntur district, according to the Deccan Chronicle.

Heavy rains have triggered widespread flooding across several districts in Andhra Pradesh, causing damage to infrastructure, inundating agricultural fields, and disrupting road connectivity, according to the Deccan Chronicle.

In Guntur district, a woman died after being buried under debris during landslides at Penumaka in Tadepalli mandal in the early hours of Wednesday. The Erravagu stream, flowing between Tadikonda and Kantheru, washed away a section of a main road and brought down a major electricity line.

In NTR district, several streams and rivulets are overflowing. Floodwater is flowing on the main road connecting Tiruvuru, Lakshmipuram, and Mallela, while an overflow channel between Munukulla and Vavilala villages has halted traffic between Ootukuru and Tiruvuru.

Bapatla district has seen breaches in the Nallamada drain and the Nakkavagu stream. In Karamchedu mandal, overflowing streams have disrupted traffic on the Karamchedu-Swarna and Karamchedu-Kunkalamarru routes, while chilli crops in the Adipudi road area are submerged.

In East Godavari district, continuous rainfall since Tuesday has inundated roads in Nidadavole. Darshan at the Kotasattemma temple has been suspended after floodwater entered the premises, and traffic was disrupted at a Tallapalem underpass bridge.

In Mangalagiri, a protective wall near the northern gopuram of the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple collapsed. In Krosuru mandal, police rescued two people after their car was swept away by floodwater.
