Gujarat CM stresses workforce readiness for Viksit Gujarat 2047 vision
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel called for bridging the gap between industry and employment during a seminar in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the need to prepare a skilled workforce to achieve the Viksit Bharat vision during a seminar in Ahmedabad. The one-day event, titled ‘Viksit Gujarat 2047: Higher Education for Future Workforce Readiness’, was organised by the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT) and the State Government’s Higher Education Department, according to The News Mill and ANI.
Patel said the roadmap for Viksit Gujarat 2047 must focus on building a talent pool and improving the skill levels of young people. He noted that the state's future competitiveness depends on providing youth with education and training that matches changing times.
The Chief Minister suggested that similar seminars be held every three to six months to allow for regular monitoring and clear direction. He added that the government remains flexible and open to stakeholder suggestions when implementing the roadmap.
Minister of State for Higher Education Trikam Chhanga spoke at the event, stating that digital literacy and technology-based education are essential. He urged universities to update curricula alongside industries to include fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Semiconductor Manufacturing.
Chhanga also called for following the National Education Policy 2020 approach by encouraging research and internships. He noted that skills should align with local economic sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, marine industry, tourism, and logistics.
The seminar included a presentation by NITI Aayog Programme Director Dr Sonia Pant on aligning higher education with employment requirements. GRIT CEO S Aparna also provided an overview of indicators such as Regional Growth Hubs.
