Industries urged to use treated wastewater as drought grips Telangana

The Telangana Pollution Control Board advised industrial units to use treated domestic wastewater to reduce dependence on groundwater and fresh water.

The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TG PCB) on Wednesday urged industries to explore using treated domestic wastewater for industrial purposes due to severe drought conditions and the impact of El Niño in the state.

According to Telangana Today, officials met with representatives of the Jeedimetla Industries Association to discuss reducing reliance on fresh water and groundwater for non-potable and industrial needs.

During the meeting, officials stated that the treated water available can meet various industrial requirements in the Jeedimetla industrial area.

Industry representatives visited a CETP operated by JETL, which currently has the capacity to provide 12 lakh litres of treated wastewater per day for reuse.
