Lack of ideological compatibility behind Ruhullah's exit from NC, says Karra

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hameed Karra suggested National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi resigned due to differing views.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday suggested that National Conference (NC) MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi resigned from the party due to a possible lack of ideological compatibility. According to The Tribune, Karra commented on the resignation while speaking to PTI on the sidelines of a party function.

Karra stated that Mehdi appeared to hold a different viewpoint than the direction the party was taking. He noted that individuals have personal reasons for leaving a political party, drawing parallels to his own 2016 resignation from Parliament and the PDP, as well as Ghulam Nabi Azad's 2022 exit from the Congress.

Regarding reports of dissent among NC legislators following a Cabinet expansion, Karra said it was premature to speculate on the stability of the NC-led government. He expressed confidence that the National Conference would manage the situation through internal coordination and dialogue.

The JKPCC president also asserted that the Congress would support the National Conference whenever it faces a threat from the BJP. He added that the Congress would continue its ongoing campaigns, such as 'Jammu Chalo' and 'Delhi Chalo', to demand the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing speculation regarding a visit by BJP leader Ram Madhav to Jammu, Karra said the Congress had no information about any major political developments and would wait to see what happens.
